Can you feel it?

'Round these parts there are two seasons: football season, and baseball season; the rest is just filler in between (what is this Christmas you speak of?). We might be at the perfect storm of 'seasons' right now since football season is gearing up and baseball season is still going strong. If you come to our house at any given moment you will most definitely find one of those two sports on the t.v. no matter the time or day.

Chris is obviously a glutton for punishment. For one, he married me and two, he is an insane Kansas City Chiefs fan - aaand they break his heart every year.

He's into it, man. Like REALLY into it. Like reads off-season reports, watches youtube videos of his favorite players being awesome, and has extensively studied the history of the Chief's franchise into it.

We even toured the stadium last year which I highly recommend:

"Can you imagine if we LIVED here?!"

"Ok I'll take a picture with you, but have you felt this grass?! I'm never washing my hands......"

"ok but seriously, the players come in HERE! Can you believe it?!"

This is us at my first Chief's game vs. the Broncos waaaay back in 2011:

It was so cold I literally spent half the game in the gift shop.....

We've been lucky enough to attend games the past couple of years as well:

I literally thought football season didn't start until around  September,
but I forgot to account for one teeny tiny detail: pre-season games.

I was sitting in my office earlier, working, when I could feel, nay, I could sense a nervous type of energy growing in the house. Chris was pacing back and forth, in and out of my office through the living room into the bathroom out of the bathroom back into the living room and into my office again, WASHING THE DISHES, letting the dogs in and out the back door, and just generally being a pain.

When I asked him what the heck he was doing his reply made it all clear:

Chris: "Chief's play the Bengals in the first pre-season game tonight."
Me: "ohhh that's right, I forgot tha-"

Chris (quasi-yelling): "and the guide on the t.v. doesn't say it's going to show the game, but I know it's on channel 12 because I checked on Arrowhead Pride and they said it would be on channel 12. It's says it's gonna play some show called "Blue Bloods" or "Quest" or some crap like that!"

Me: "Ok let me just look it up online-"
Chris: "I already did! It's doesn't say! Let me show you!" (I'm putting all exclamations here because there was a slight panic to his voice).

"Now let me get you to the right screen..."

"SEE!? NO ONE WANTS TO WATCH THE QUEST! CHIEFSSSSS!!!!"

Me: "What is my life right now!?"
Chris: "Hey don't take my picture, this is serious!"

Finally, enough was enough I called our local cable company to MAKE SURE the game would be shown. Fortunately for me, it was. Chris was still skeptical.

I thought: So what if it's the beginning of August? Chris' Chief's spirit is exciting.
What the hell, let's get out the Chief's knick-knacks:

I even ventured into his man cave, procured and displayed this cool tiny little truck:

Chris took one look at this little gem, nodded in approval and said: "Just look at that craftsmanship!"

When I turned around from finishing up my little display and saw chris, I was not surprised:

I think we're ready.

You never know what you'll find....

My phone decided it no longer wanted to be a phone, but an inanimate object that would neither charge nor power up. When this occurs, one of two things can happen: 1) You fall in to a tail-spin of panic, depression and over-eating because you no longer have a phone and your communication to the outside world is shut off; or 2) your dad graciously lets you borrow his old phone until you get a new one. Fortunately, I fall into the 2 option. When you get your dad's old phone, you also get his contacts, alarms (6 am dad? NO!), and pictures.

I found some really great pictures; some I'd never even seen before, and they showcase my family's personality just beautifully. Oh my gosh, there was this one really crazy one that-- actually instead of telling you, let me show you:

You know it's going to be good when the first picture is of Andrew in a gorilla suit:

Just my dad....

......taking a picture with a statue of Mark Twain, like a boss.

This was in Colorado, last summer:
I wasn't there for this, but I think Andrew is yelling: "We're on top of a Mountain!!!!"

I found this very sweet photo of my parent's
Right next to a photo of this:
The word 'poop' out of painter tape, compliments of Andrew.

Speaking of Andrew, my little smooshy face,  I saw this:
He is using the sign to let people know that apparently, the party is NOT at my parents house,
but in his pants.

I think this picture represents every male who is forced, by his wife/girlfriend/mother/sister,  to go to IKEA:
IKEA should consider opening a bar at some point.

I found sweet pictures like this one of me and my brothers...
Obviously I didn't get the "wear a plaid, button up shirt" memo,
and mistakenly showed up to dinner in black.

Then I found pictures like this:
My mom and her dog, Scout, each in their own Snuggie

I found a video of my dad dancing to his birthday song where my mom and I tried (and failed) to harmonize at the end:

Here's a picture of our friend, Carrie, at her 40th surprise birthday party...
My mom and I totally made that sweet sign.

I am trying to put a batman mask on Scout in this picture...
He's very photogenic.

Speaking of my parent's animals; here is a picture of Penny, the gray cat, snuggling up to a taxidermied bobcat.....
Is that a bobcat snuggling with a gray cat? NOPE. Chuck Testa!
(If you have no idea who Chuck Testa is, you need to google him and watch his video right now)

And finally, I leave you with:
An unexplainable picture of Christian and I wearing sombreros while I'm (what I can only assume) playing air guitar.

HAPPY MONDAY!

Fat Weekend, part 1

While a majority of the world is celebrating Fat Tuesday today (practicing Catholics and non alike), I am still reveling and enjoying what I'm calling last weekend's, Fat weekend. Chris and I spent a most magnificent and grand time in Kansas City. However, it didn't start off so swell.

Friday afternoon, I got a new tire and an oil change; and paid $277.79 for it. I was slightly taken aback by the figure, but consoled myself in the fact that I got to hang out with this sweet fella while waiting at the tire shop:

This little dog is Sheldon, at first I thought he was really cute. He started sniffing me in personal places and I could have sworn I saw him pee on that pile of stuffed animals on the left, and then I remembered I was paying his human $277.79; and I didn't think he was so cute anymore.

We finally retrieved the car with the expensive tire and began our mini-road trip. About 25 minutes into our 2.5 hour car ride my Attention Deficit Disorder  (that the internet informed me I have) kicked in. I started digging around in my cluttered glove compartment, and found this picture of Christian:

I have never seen this picture, nor do I know how it got there, but if I ever meet a modeling scout I will be sure to present them with this. Yes, that is his real hair. Yes, I am jealous of it.

I decided the weekend needed to start off right, especially if I was going to begin it with a long car ride. That's right, Shamrock shake from McDonald's baby!:
As the McDonald's employee handed me my minty Shamrock shake, I heard her say: "You know they are really good as a half-chocolate, half-shamrock shake." Immediately, I wanted to throw this at her and say: "WHY DIDN'T YOU MENTION THAT WHEN I ORDERED!??" but Chris sensed my chocolate antennae go up and drove off quickly.

Shake mishaps and ADD be damned, we made it to Kansas City in record time. Actually, just in time for dinner. Fortunately my friend, Lesley, is engaged to quite the chef. He had Chicken Stuffed Peppers on the menu, and insisted I just sit back and relax:

To be honest, I only asked him once if he needed help and it was like this: "You don't need any help, do you?"

I started to feel a little guilty, and a little hungry, so I poured myself a glass of  'chef juice' and made guacamole for everyone:
I made a LOT of guacamole, so I needed an equal amount of chef juice of course!
 It's science, people!

We also had these for snacks:
Can you see why I'm calling it Fat Weekend?

I was enjoying my evening supervising Blake's cooking (lie-he needed zero help), when in walked two MORE of my favorite people (could this night get any better?):
Ta-da! Rick and Rachel!

You know how I feel about getting a candid shot, and I was bound and determine to capture our moment as three couples being awesome like bosses.

 Then I took this:
I love this picture. Not because of Rachel's great laugh face, or Rick picking his ear; but Chris' face in the mirror. I think he took one look at our feast (or Rick's hair) and said: "Not bad."

If you are ever with me and I say: "I want to take a candid picture!" just tell me no because it will end up blurry anyways, and I will be severly disappointed:

 See what I mean?

Looking at this feast just made me realize I have not eaten lunch yet and I'm starving; but since I already had my fat weekend I should really eat something healthy like a salad, right?

Yeah... totally... a salad. Definitely.  One that comes in a cup.... and is topped with whipped cream, a cherry .....and is half-chocolate, half-shamrock...rhymes with the word, make....and it's from McDonald's.....totally healthy.
Meet you there.

A preview, just for you:

I had a FUN-tastic time in Kansas City this weekend. I can't wait to tell you all about it, but my fingers....are....very tired....and want to only type the letter zzzzzzzzzzz. So, before I fall asleep at my computer, I leave you with this picture of me being VERY excited about something that still makes my feet dance on their own accord....

Huzzah!

When someone tells me some good news or something exciting, I feel a simple: "Oh how nice!" or "I'm so excited" just doesn't do how I feel inside any justice. That is when I break out the old-school phrase HUZZAH! (pronounced huh-za like pizZA!)
For example:
"You got that dream job in Fiji and you're going to fly me over there on a private jet once a month?! HUZZAH!"
or
"You mean as an adult I get to CHOOSE cookies over a sensible dinner, and no one can tell me no? HUZZAH!"
or
"There is an Andy Griffith marathon on t.v. this weekend!?
HUZZAH!"

This morning, I woke up wanting to shout and extra-large and extra loud HUZZAH!  I get to see one of my best friends/favorites this weekend in Kansas City (shout with me, friends: HUZZAH!)!

 and it's Friday!
All together now:
HUZZAH!
and
HAPPY FRIDAY!
Have an adventurous weekend, even if it's spent relaxing on your couch!
