In honor of Puxatawny Phil.....

One of my favorite movies of all time is "Groundhog Day," I love it. Maybe because it has elements of Time Travel? You know how I feel about the awesomeness that is Time Travel....

I watch this movie EVERY time it comes on T.V.  Anyways, we went to dinner with our good friend Jordan tonight (post coming later) and came home to this cinematic perfection on T.V. If you haven't seen it, stop reading this and go rent it RIGHT NOW!

In case you have no idea what I'm talking about: Rude weatherman, Phil Connors, is stuck in his own personal hell re-living the same day (groundhog's day) over and over and over. Thus, getting into all kinds of shenanigans, finding true-love and learning about himself.

We were watching this and reveling in ALL the things he gets to do while re-living the same day over and over. Pretty soon curiosity got the best of Jordan, and this conversation happened:

Jordan: "How long was he actually living the same day over and over?!"
Chris (thoughtful): "Man I don't know. It had to be a few years....
Me: "Yeah he DID master the piano."
Chris: "....AND saved that kid from falling out the tree everyday, OH! and save that guy from choking...."
Me: "And he mastered French! And knew everything about all the people in the town..."
Chris: "AND he learned how to carve ice with a chainsaw....and remember he became an expert  throwing cards in a hat!..."
Jordan (REALLY wanting to know how long he was there): SO he was there a LONG time then!!
Me (after looking it up quickly and shocked): 10 YEARS! He was there 10 YEARS!!
Chris (not suprised): "Yeah I figured something like that."
Jordan (angry and NOT liking this movie anymore): WHAT!? 10 YEARS? THAT IS TERRIBLE!  THIS MOVIE SUCKS!!
Chris(angry as well): "Yeah! Poor guy! He was probably miserable, I feel bad for him now!"

 So that being said,.....

...... HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY FROM THESE TWO:

What's going on here?!

Sometimes when I'm going through old pictures I like to amuse myself by "captioning" the photo or subjects in the photo, kind of like Awkward Family Photos but for my own personal family. For example:

An innocent picture of my brother and I in a basket really is:
"Oh no momma! I wasn't shoving him in this basket to drop off at the orphanage in the middle of night! See look! I'm getting in too....now....you go in the other room....that's it...now take a nap and when he goes missing, don't worry about it and just take me to the park by myself like the good old days!!"

This very old picture of my grandparents, father and Aunt at a lovely Christmas gathering turns into:
"The proud, unsuspecting mother was severely disappointed when she realized the man behind her would soon be her son-in-law and father to her grandchildren. It wasn't the bunny ears that made her cringe, but the peach sweater."

When I see this picture of my mom being fancy, all I hear is
"HEEYYY BOOOYYS!!! Come on over to my house for ovaltine later!"

This glorious picture of Andrew's first day in the world, and a family SO happy with the new addition says:
"Me: Seriously Dad? Another one? You swore to me there would be NO more brothers!
Dad: Just shut up and smile. At least you're still the only girl!
Christian: Wait. What?! There's a baby?"

My mom and dad at a pumpkin patch:
"Dad: Why does everyone keep looking at me funny and saying: "eh"??
Mom: I told you that you were one shirt away from a Canadian tuxedo!!"

My dad is trying to relax while listening to music, but really he is hearing:
"You are getting veeerrry relaxed. You have no wife....No children....you are on island by yourself with endless amounts of steak and beer......"

In this picture of my 1st birthday, I hear my grandma shouting:
"Hooray you did it! You had a kid for a whole year and she isn't dismembered or maimed!"

and finally:
COLLEGE: Not for the faint of heart....

Happy Friday!
